You have your mission, goals, objectives, programs, staff, and all your plans but having a clear, cohesive document which describes them in all one place is eluding you.  Being able to make your case in a logical manner will cause others to understand the intent of your organization!  Who doesn’t want someone to think they have it all together????  Making your case is integral to a successful nonprofit.  Today we will briefly discover how to state your case.

First you need to understand what your case is.  Your case statement provides the basis for all your other published materials.  The message you generate should be used in presentations, newsletters, brochures, etc.

A case statement is a document you can use in drafting all other documents.  It clearly states the need your agency address, how you do it, and how others can help.  It is also an item which requires everyone in your organization to communicate with each other, so you all have a clear understanding of your vision.  Who wouldn’t want a document which requires communication and becomes the guide for the organization to follow in all published materials?

Your case statement needs to be clear, urgent, and interesting.  It needs to evoke a response from your readers.  It also needs to be revisited!  As your organization grows, your services change.  Make sure you reflect that in your case!

I hope this helps you get started!
